Thanks for the response Jared - greatly appreciated!

I arrived in Van yesterday.  I took out 12 months of insurance to be on the safe side, however, the port of entry officer didnt even ask for any proof of insurance details (or proof of the minimum $4k funds for that matter)

For anyone else on their way to Canada - I'd say Jared's suggestion above is a winner!
