A couple more questions...

Okay, I am an Australian citizen but I live in New Zealand (permanent resident here). I've lived here since I was ten years old so I'm a little confused as to the police-check requirements for this visa - should I supply a NZ police check? Apparently I need a mailing address in Australia which is fine because I have relatives there still. Does anyone have anymore info for Australian citizens living overseas who are applying for the Canadian WHP?

And second question - my rough plans are to go to Canada in April/May next year. How soon should I apply for the visa to make sure it gets to me in plenty of time?

Hey Emma,

I'd probably supply a police check from the state in which the address is that you're applying from. The police check will come up blank, but at least you'll have something to submit.

I'd apply at least 10 weeks before you plan to head off to Canada, but the letter of invitation is usable for 12 months, so really any time within the 12 months prior should be all good!
