where to go when you first arrive in Canada

Hey all just got my whp so im off to Vancouver... Nervous and very excited... Im leaving sydney late july and was wondering if people who have done this before could give me some insight into their prior experiences? Im also unsure as to where to stay first up whether i check into a hostel or try to find something a little more permanent like short stay accommodation. My plan is to get up to whistler as soon as possible to try to find work for the coming ski season.... Hope to see you there.....

Hey Brown,

As I said in the other thread, YHA or SameSun seem to be favourites when folks first get here, so you probably can't go too far wrong with them. July is pretty bloody early for the winter! Summer is only getting into swing then. Still, it would be a reasonable time to try and pick up something that will carry you through the winter rather than a summer specific job.

I'll be there mid september, will have work lined up for the winter before leaving. I'll probably hit up the Samesun as well, heard a lot of good things about it.

I'll be arriving on the 25th! Staying at the Samesun for a few weeks to start with. I'd definitely be keen to catch up for beers!!

Beers sound good to me, I plan to get to Vancouver around the 16th September after a couple weeks in the US. Will stay at samesun, but will need to find a job asap after arrival.

Hey Guys;

Im looking at going over to Canada (Vancouver Area) in the next couple of months (Oct / Nov).

I have just finished my apprenticeship in carpentry and will be looking for some building work when I get over there. Still sorting things out but just thought id put my 2cents in this thread.
