AUSSIE DRIVERS' LICENCES RECOGNISED IN P.E.I AND SASKATCHEWAN

Hey Guys,

Just read the following news article on the Australian High Commission Canada Website.

http://www.canada.embassy.gov.au/otwa/mr100211.html

That brings us to 4 provinces now: British Colombia, Ontario, PEI and Saskatchewan. All good news.

How good is that?
That's such great news, I was thought I would have to do some driving test in Toronto before getting one.
Cheers.

Re: AUSSIE DRIVERS' LICENCES RECOGNISED IN P.E.I AND SASKATCHEWAN

Hello again,

I just found this link on the Government of Alberta (Service Alberta) website:

http://www.servicealberta.gov.ab.ca/1741.cfm

Other Temporary Workers and Foreign Students

If you are from outside Canada working in Alberta temporarily under a valid work visa or you are studying in Alberta at an accreditided institution, you may drive for up to 1 year with your home jurisdiction licence and International Drivers Permit or until your home jurisdiction licence expires, whichever comes first. If you leave Canada and return, your 1 year term starts over. Please ensure that your home jurisdiction driver's licence and your International Drivers Permit are valid for the duration of your stay if you intend to drive. If your work or student visa is for a term longer than 1 year and you will not be leaving Canada during this time, you may be eligible for an Alberta licence. Please see the section titled New Canadian and Alberta Residents

Make sure all your documents are valid. It might even be worth it to Print out the page and keep it with your International Driver's Permit and Licence from Oz.

It also mentions there in that paragraph that if you leave Canada and return the 1 year term starts over.

Happy driving everyone!

Finally got around to updating the article with the press release/information on the subject from the two new provinces and the locator for each province.

Hey Brown,

Lots of folks stay in hostels when they first arrive and it seems to be a great way to meet other folks in your position. Ay YHA or http://www.samesun.com/ seem to be favourites.

Good luck!
