Is there any government run places? I have heard that the brokers out that end of the country are pretty picky, but the govt run places are generally more lenient. That may have been Ontario though...

Insurance is stoopidly expensive over here in general though. EG, we were paying $300/month on our 4Runner after I had a very small accident a few years ago... truck was only worth $4500!
