Oz/CanForex deal still available?

Hey guys

I've been in Vancouver for a few weeks now.  They party is winding down and I'm starting to settle in.
Just found this site when trying to figure out to do with my finances long term.

The deal with this foriegn exchange company company sounds great.
But when I clicked the provided link it just goes to the default canforex page.
No mention of any special deals.

Am I clicking on the wrong thing?
Or has the deal expired?

Cheers

Re: Oz/CanForex deal still available?

Hey Tangent,

I'm pretty sure it still is, but I've just sent them an email to make sure, and will update as soon as I hear back.

A friend of mine used the deal only a few weeks ago, so it should be valid.

Re: Oz/CanForex deal still available?

Had confirmation this morning that the deal certainly is still available! As long as you use the below link to access their site, then you won't have a problem.

www.ozforex.com.au/partner.asp?id=524

So it sounds like you were doing stuff with the Olympics Tangent?

Re: Oz/CanForex deal still available?

Sweet man.
Signed up today and they said the deal was still going when I queried them about it.
So all good.

And actually I didn't even know canada had the olympics till I bought my flights and my agent mentioned it.
Luckily I missed the bulk of it.
Though there still seems to be some residual nationalism kicking about.
The locals tell me it's just an anomalie and should pass soon ;D

Good to hear that all is good!

Ah, the Olympics were special, fantastic time to be in Vancouver wink

You'll find that the Canucks are a lot more nationalistic than Aussies in their own country for sure, comes from being right next to the Kings of Nationalism, the USA.

Re: Oz/CanForex deal still available?

just tried to use the deal,
doesnt look like its still going because it redirects me to their current promo.
which is 2 free then $15 from then on.

problem is the minimum of 2k per transfer, im planning on transferring 500-1k per month, so i'm gonna be stuffed having to wait 2months to send money to my bank loan in aus lol.

Hey Hustler,

The deal certainly is available still - email Natalie Truong of CanForex on natalietruong@canadianforex.ca when you sign up and she'll make sure you get the CanAussie deal. I'll update the article with these details when I get a chance.

Re: Oz/CanForex deal still available?

Hey guys, I thought I'd add another money transfer thing I've joined up with through my Vancity account called "Hyperwallet" (www.hyperwallet.com). I'm not too sure, but it might only be available to people with credit unions.
$7 per transfer to Oz, 2-3 day processing time, $1000 AUD limit per week, though this limit can be raised with additional verification. Pretty handy!

Re: Oz/CanForex deal still available?

I emailed Natalie Truong but never received a reply. Still, I will sign up through the link and contact them and see if the deal is still available.

Hey Surfbot,

Natalie's usually pretty good at responding to emails. Let me know how you go though.

Cheers!

Re: Oz/CanForex deal still available?

Ok, you have to call them on a local number once you have registered. You get to speak to an actual person and when I mentioned the canaussie promotion they confirmed with me that they can setup the account according to the deal. You get first 2 transfers free and after that any transfer under $10,000 will incur a $12 fee, and the 2k minimum does not apply so you can transfer smaller amounts.

Once you make a transfer they will receive the funds over night and it will then take 2-3 business days to appear in your account.

You need to be aware that before you can make a transfer they will need to proof your ID, this means sending by snail mail the following: a photocopy of your Drivers licence or passport (this copy will also need to be signed by a Guarantor - a person engaged in one of the following professions: dentist, medical doctor, chiropractor, judge, magistrate, lawyer, notary (in Quebec), notary public, optometrist, pharmacist, professional accountant, professional engineer or veterinarian), a copy of a statement from your canadian bank account, and a cheque payable to CanadianForex Limited in the sum of $1.00.

So all in all this is a better long term solution than the $40-$50 the Australian banks will slug you to do the transfer, but there are a few hoops to jump through before you can start using the service so if you need the money fast you will need to look at other options.

Hope this helps smile
